Here we have the transcendental instruments

who never get tired in their service. They always

offer their extatic sound to chanting. It is said

that instruments used in kirtan are a direct

expansion of the Supreme.

 

Vani Kannan majored in Anthropology and

Music at Barnard College and has studied

Western Classical music since she was five

years old. During college, she spent a semester

in India studying Hindustani Classical music.

She now works at the publisher W. W. Norton & Co.

and enjoys playing flute in kirtan in her spare time.

 

 

 

 

Akincana Krsna is an NYU graduate who studied

Mridanga in India. He hopes to help bring this

traditional Kirtana instrument, which is similar to

Tabla, into a more prominant role in the Western

Kirtan scene.

 

 

 

Kerel Roach achieved early fame in the infamous NYC

skateboard scene. He exchanged his passion for skating

into a heartfelt love for Kirtan. He has a natural talent

for singing, harmonium and percussion instruments.
